KISSIMMEE, Fla.- The Women's Soccer program competed for their second straight national championship Saturday against Providence University College from Manitoba, Canada. The WSOC team had a great chance early off the foot of Randi Fitzgerald but went wide right. The first half after that was just a defensive battle as both back lines were holding strong for Great Lakes and Providence. The first half stood 0-0 with Providence having a little momentum.
In the second half Providence broke through in the 12th minute off a corner to take a 1-0 lead. GLCC offense was unable to break through Providence defense as Crusaders continued to press. The Pilots from Providence put the finishing touches on the Crusaders in the 70th minute to push the lead to 2-0. GLCC would fall 2-0 to the Pilots and finish as National Runners Up for the NCCAA DII. GLCC would finish 11-4 on the season. Randi Fitzgerald, Avery Carr and Hannah Rossner all were named All Tournament Team for their performance.
