Women's Soccer Ranked #1 in the Country in First Poll
LANSING, Mich- Women's Soccer received great news today. The Women Soccer program was ranked #1 in the NCCAA Coaches Poll. This is the first time in program history that Women's Soccer has been ranked #1. This is only the second year of the program's existence. Coach Sam Sibilski's team has not lost a game since October 2nd of 2020. In the 2021 campaign GLCC has outscored opponents 22-5, led by Hailey Conine's 9 goals and 4 assists.
The top 5 was as followed:
- Great Lakes Christian College - 39 pts
- Crown College - 35 pts
- Grace Christian - 25 pts
- Faith Baptist Bible - 20 pts
- Trinity Baptist (FL) - 14 pts
The national poll is decided by the four region chairs across the North, Mideast, South and Southwest regions.
Coach Sam Sibilski said this about the ranking, "This is obviously big moment for our program. I am very proud of our ladies for earning this accomplishment, but this will not be the peak of our season rather just part of our journey. Our focus is our next game Saturday and focusing on continuing to improve as a team."
Director of Athletics Richard Westerlund said this, "I am very proud of Coach Sam Sibilski and our ladies. Coach Sam has worked tirelessly in building this program from scratch, I am thrilled to see him and his girls getting recognized for their efforts. I am excited to see how this group continues to change their best this season."
