Great Lakes Christian Triumphs Over Calumet College, 74-52
Lansing, MI – The Great Lakes Christian Women’s basketball team secured a 74-52 win over Calumet College last night.
MaKensie Mondy led the charge with a dominant double-double, tallying 25 points and 10 rebounds while going 10-of-14 from the free-throw line. Her all-around performance included six assists, helping to set the tone for the Crusaders.
Leah Yanko added 17 points, hitting two crucial three-pointers and going 5-of-7 from the charity stripe. MyKenzie Kent also recorded a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, providing a strong presence in the paint.
O’licia Porritt made her mark, scoring 9 points with three three-pointers and dishing out five assists, showcasing her ability to stretch the floor and facilitate. Marionna Dixon contributed 6 points and pulled down four boards.
Defensively, the Crusaders limited Calumet College to just 35.1% shooting from the field and 10.0% from beyond the arc.
Calumet College was led by A’Niyah Moreno, who posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, but the Crusaders’ balanced attack and defensive intensity were too much to handle.
Great Lakes Christian looks to carry their momentum into the next matchup against Central Christian Bible on Monday, December 16th at 5:00pm at the Doty Center.
