WYOMING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College women's basketball's season came to a close on Thursday night with a 59-48 loss to Johnson University (Tenn.) in the NCCAA DII Mid-East regionla quarterfinal.
Johnson opened the game on a 7-0 run, but both offenses struggled to score in the first half. The first quarter ended with Johnson nursing a 10-5 lead. They built that lead into double-digits in the second but the offensive woes continued for both teams and Great Lakes went to halftime down 20-9.
The third quarter saw both teams pick up the pace as GLCC trimmed the defiict to single digits, 35-26, going into the fourth. Great Lakes got within five points, but no closer as Johnson rebuilt its double-digit advantage down the stretch and clinched a semifinal berth.
Allazae Lloyd led GLCC with 19 points and Mystic Striker set a program record with 32 rebounds in the game.
Jordan Smith (21 points, 10 rebounds) and Tori Teesateskie (12 points, 14 rebounds) both registered double-doubles for Johnson in a winning effort. Johnson advances to the semifinal, which will take place on Friday.
