MANHATTAN, Kans. - Great Lakes Christian College women's basketball has their first win of the season after defeating Manhattan Christian on the road on Saturday.
Great Lakes, playing without any substitutes, opened with a strong first quarter, leading 20-12 through 10 minutes. They held that advantage through a sluggish second and led at halftime, 28-18.
A seven-point run to start the second half increased the lead to 17 and Great Lakes held on from there, outscoring Manhattan in all quarters to put their first win to bed.
Both teams struggled shooting the ball, GLCC going 24/76 (31.4%) from the floor and Manhattan shooting 18/71 (25.4%).
Mystic Striker grabbed a double-double, scoring 25 points and picking up 11 rebounds. Anastashia Douglas led all players with 15 boards.
Kayleigh Mannering led Manhattan with 24 points while Jordan Lewis, Tristen Heiden and Maggie Hayes all tallied double-digit rebounds (14, 13 and 10 respectively).
GLCC's Kansas roadtrip continues on Monday as they face Central Christian Bible at 5:00.
