CHESTERTON, Ind. - Great Lakes Christian men's soccer has its first three points of the season after a convincing 6-0 win on the road at Fairhaven Baptist on Wednesday.
Great Lakes opened the scoring quickly as Caleb Yonker putting one away off an assist from Damari Reid in the fifth minute. Sophomore Michael Wetzel scored his first career goal in the 20th minute to give GLCC a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
The visitors put the match away in the second half, Yonker scoring again and then assisting sophomore Gavin Ewalt to push the lead to 4-0 after the first hour.
Freshman McCray Wenger scored his first Great Lakes goal in the 79th on a free kick and then assisted sophomore Zach Johnson in the 88th to make the final margin 6-0.
Great Lakes took 19 shots, putting 11 on frame. Alexzander Walker made seven saves and earned his first clean sheet for GLCC.
Great Lakes will be in action again on September 25 against Faith Baptist Bible in Ankeny, Iowa.
