LANSING, Mich. - Trae Ruggles is the Player of the Week for Great Lakes Christian College after his efforts helped lead GLCC to the NCCAA DII Midwest Regional championship in men's basketball.
Ruggles registered a double-double in the championship final on Saturday against Kuyper as Great Lakes won 81-71. Ruggles finished second on the team with 17 points on 7/10 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds to pace the squad.
Ruggles also started the semifinal against Emmaus on Friday, contributing seven points and five rebounds in a 95-67 win.
Whether coming off the bench or starting for GLCC, Ruggles has been a crucial piece of the team's success in 2025-26, averaging 8.3 points per game and scoring in double-digits seven times. As the season has gone on, his role has increased, culminating in his most prolific output coming when his team needed it most: in a regional championship.
Great Lakes now heads to Minneapolis for the NCCAA DII National Championship tournament, where they will be the number-two overall seed and play in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, March 12 at 8:00 p.m.
