MBB Explodes in Home Opener

LANSING, Mich- Great Lakes Christian College Men's Basketball program had their home opener Friday night as they took on Barclay College in the William Westerlund Memorial Classic. The Crusaders came out and jumped all over the visiting Bears and never looked back. GLCC opened up with an explosive 74 point half to take a 37 point lead into the half. In the second half it was much of the same. Coach Westerlund's group had 99 points with 14 minutes to go. The Crusaders would cruise to a 125-69 victory over Barclay. The Crusaders had everyone play at least 10 minutes and everyone who played scored. Kylan Shipp led the Crusaders with 28 points on 11/15 from the floor and 6/9 from three. Josh Thompson scored a career high 15 points for the Crusaders off the bench.
Inside the Box Score:
- Crusaders shot 51/93 from the floor including hitting 19 threes
- GLCC dished out 34 assists
- Crusaders forced 29 turnovers but committed 17 of their own
- GLCC pounded the glass grabbing 60 boards compared to the Bears 33

"It is always good to get the first one. Today we played about as complete of a game as we have all year and it showed. I was really proud of our group with how we were connected, our energy and our desire to do the little things tonight. I'm proud of our guys and we will continue to change our best. We have a quick turnaround to play a very good Asbury squad tomorrow."
