LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College JV men's basketball defeated ALN Sports Prep Academy on Monday night, 95-88 in its home finale.
GLCC opened up a 13-point first half lead, but ALNSPA trimmed it back down to six by halftime, 44-38. The visitors kept it close in the second and used an 8-2 run to take a 58-57 lead with 11:40 left in the half.
The teams continued to trade the lead until Andre Watkins, Jr. hit a three-pointer to tie the game with 43 seconds left. That would prove to be the final basket of regulation and the game went to overtime.
Great Lakes jumped out to a quick lead in the extra frame and never looked back, going on an 8-1 run to build a lead they would hold on to for the duration.
Damari Reid led GLCC with 24 points. Watkins scored 19 and Jalen Johnson led the team with nine assists to go with his 16 points.
BJ Williams scored 25 to lead ALNSPA. Dez'Mand Hawkins scored 21.
Great Lakes will wrap up its season with a rematch against ALNSPA on February 16.
