JV Men's Basketball comeback falls short vs. GRCC
LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College JV men's basketball could not complete the comeback when they hosted Grand Rapids Community College on Friday, losing 76-69.
GRCC opened up a double-digit lead with a 16-0 run last in the first to push their halftime lead to 38-23.
Great Lakes scored the first seven point of the second half, but Grand Rapids responded well, pushing the margin back up to 18 with 10:49 left. Great Lakes went on a run of their own, outscoring the visitors 14-2 to bring them within six. They cut the lead all the way down to two with 1:13 left, but GRCC scored the final five points to hold on and win.
Andrew Moore led the victors with 18 points and Justus Clark picked up a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Great Lakes offensive woes kept them from the win, as they committed 20 turnovers and only made 26 of 63 field goals (36.5%), including eight of 28 three-pointers (28.6%). Jalen Johnson led all scorers with 21 points and Damari Reid tallied a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
The team will face Spring Arbor's JV squad at the Doty Center on Wednesday at 6:00.
