LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College JV men's basketball couldn't hold on late against Concordia, picking up their first loss of the season, 77-69, on Thursday.
Concordia built a 10-point first half lead which Great Lakes cut to five before the break. In the second half, GLCC tied the game with 12:51 left and took the lead a minute later, 52-51.
Great Lakes would score again to push the lead to three, but a 14-2 run by Concordia gave them the lead for good as GLCC would get no closer than five down the stretch.
Darren Mitchelson led Concordia with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Tarek Abdul-Kareen also registered a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. Concordia shot well from outside, making 11 of their 21 three-point attemtps (52.4%).
Great Lakes, for their part, struggled from three, making only six of 24 attempts (25%). Josh Thompson led GLCC with 17 points and Larry McLean picked up 15.
GLCC will take on Grand Rapids Community College on Friday at the Doty Center.
