Men's Basketball reaches new marks in rout of Simmons
LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College men's basketball set a new program mark for assists in a 116-59 thumping of Simmons College of Kentucky on Friday.
The outcome of the game wasn't in doubt almost from the opening tip. GLCC ripped off a 22-0 run en route to a massive 60-19 halftime lead. The second half was much the same as Great Lakes cruised to a 57-point win.
14 players scored for GLCC in the game, led by Isiah Reed's 18 points and seven assists. Evan Anderson picked up a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Jaivon Felton led GLCC with 14 rebounds as they out-rebounded Simmons 67-40. Great Lakes made 48 of 100 total shots from the floor and recorded 38 assists as a team.
Jahmal Eggleston reached the 1,000-point career milestone in the game, scoring eight on the night.
Glenn Queen led Simmons with 15 points. Don'Quel Andrews scored 12 and picked up nine rebounds.
Before the game, Great Lakes honored Reed and Kylan Shipp, who reached 2,000 and 1,000 career points respectively earlier this season.
GLCC will have two weeks off before returning to action on New Year's Eve against Grace College (#13 NAIA, #1 NCCAA DI) at the Doty Center at 3:00 p.m.
