Men's Basketball holds on to beat Judson at home
LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College men's basketball came from behind and held on to a late lead to defeat NAIA Judson on Tuesday night, 84-81.
Judson built a double-digit lead in the first half with the help of a 10-0 run, taking a 43-32 advantage to the break.
Great Lakes responded with a 20-2 run in the first four minutes of the second half. Judson charged right back with a 9-0 run to take the lead back, 54-52, with 13:25 left.
The teams traded the lead until GLCC launched another run, this one of 12 consecutive points, to take a 10-point lead midway through the period.
This lead would hold. Judson brought it back within three late, but a pair of threes in the final 15 seconds both missed and Great Lakes picked up a tough win.
Isiah Reed scored a season-high 26 points to lead Great Lakes and TQ Belcher scored 16. As a team, GLCC made 15 of 28 three pointers (53.6%) despite making only 30 of 73 field goals overall (41.1%).
Thomas Donati led Judson with 26 points and 17 rebounds. Johnny Flynn also tallied a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Judson out-rebounded Great Lakes 47-35 but committed 21 turnovers to GLCC's nine.
GLCC will host Simmons College of Kentucky on Friday at 7:00 at the Doty Center.
