Men's and Women's Basketball Announces Schedule for 21-22 Season

LANSING, Mich. - Great Lakes Christian College Athletics and the Men's and Women's Basketball Program is pleased to announce their schedule for the 2021-22 season.

Men's Basketball is coming off a season where they went 16-14 and made their third consecutive region championship game appearance. The Crusaders finished 8th in the final coaches poll. GLCC returns a strong core from last season, combined with the strong recruiting class coming in expectations are high for the Coach Westerlund's fourth season at the helm.

The Men's Basketball team will open their season on October 26th on the road at NAIA opponent Concordia Ann Arbor. The Crusaders will have their home opener that weekend October 29th and 30th in the William Westerlund Memorial Classic as GLCC will take on Manahattan Christian who finished #5 in the final NCCAA coaches poll, and Crusaders will take on Emmaus Bible in the Saturday game. 

Schedule Features/ Important Dates:

  • Schedule will feature 14 home games
  • GLCC will take on 8 NAIAs
  • Crusaders will have 17 games against NCCAA competition
  • GLCC MBB and JV MBB will take on Grace Christian at Little Caesars Arena but the date is TBD
  • Senior Day will be Saturday February 12th against Lincoln Christian
  • 23 games are scheduled to take place in the state of Michigan compared to just five from last season

Coach Westerlund said this about the schedule this season, "I believe our schedule is once again very tough. We have games against D2s, multiple high level NAIA opponents, and we are playing the best teams in the NCCAA again whether at home, on the road or at netural sites. I believe our schedule will prepare us well for what we ultimately want to accomplish this year. Our goal is to be playing our best basketball late in the season. I believe this schedule accomplishes that."

Women's Basketball Program is excited to announce their 2021-22 Schedule. There is a lot of buzz around the program this year with new Head Coach CB Long taking over the helm. Last season the Women's Basketball season was shortened due to COVID. This season the Crusaders will have 28 games on the schedule fourteen of them being home. The Lady Crusaders will open their season October 30th against Emmaus Bible College. 

Schedule Features:

  • GLCC will play 13 NCCAA games this season
  • The schedule features six games against NAIA competition
  • The schedule also features five games against NCAA D3
  • Senior Day for the Crusaders will be Saturday February 12th
  • Schedule breaksdown with 14 home games, 12 away games, 2 neutral site games

Coach CB Long said this about the upcoming season, "I am excited for this coming season.  We have several winnable games, and most are going to be very competitive for our women.  A great mixture of home games and games on the road with travel that will be fun for the ladies.  I am so looking forward to getting off to a good start, and finishing strong."
